Sutton Coldfield's Cancer Support Centre's, Fundraising and Events Manager, Pat Brighton said: "This is the third year that the charity has entered a team in the Great Midlands Fun Run..
"It's a signifcant sum of money which will help us deliver our services to those who most need our support in and around Sutton Coldfield."
Pat added: "Many of us tackled the course for the first time this year and our team all wore specially printed T-shirts generously sponsored by Spice West Midlands. Our thanks also go to our Patron, Sally Ellis - a former British Olympic Marathon runner - who kindly devised a variety of training programmes to ensure we all enjoyed the day and didn't suffer too much afterwards, regardless of our level of ability. We're aiming to increase our numbers of entrants again in 2012.
"We're thrilled to have raised so much money. The Fun Run has also added to what the team raised and we're extremely grateful for their additional support.
The Cancer Support Centre Sutton Coldfield, founded in 2000, moved to new accomodation in March 2011 when it relocated to St Giles Hospice Day Centre, Lindridge Road in Sutton Coldfield.
It aims to provide a place of sanctuary and support for all those affected by cancer including family members and close friends. Trained staff offer information, support and complementary therapies, free of charge, so that no person with a need for its services will be disadvantaged.
