‘Village People’ hit the Fun Run road.
Staff and members at Village Hotel & Leisure Club at junction 10, M6 Walsall are entering a team in the Great Midlands Fun Run for the first time.
Several members of staff participated in the event last year and enjoyed the day so much, they have decided to target the Fun Run as a major fund raising initiative for staff and club members.
Assistant Club Manager, Chris Smith said: “Several members of staff have already registered but we’re now on a major drive to encourage as many of our 4000 club members to enter for the 8.5 mile event on 1 June.”
Chris added: “We have the potential to have several hundred people participating as part of the Village team and raising money for our nominated charities.”
“We’ve chosen to support two local Walsall charities - Acorns Hospice and Manor Hospital. We’re even going to try and persuade as many of our team to take part in fancy dress as our team name is Village People!!”
Fun Run Event Director Tracey Spare said: “Chris has tremendous enthusiasm for the event and along with his colleagues, recognises the potential for raising a huge sum of money for their chosen charities. Having met some of the team members, I know they’re going to have great fun and enjoy the day while raising money for two very worthy organisations Acorns Hospice & Walsall Manor Hospital.
“It’s great to see staff & members of the Village Hotel & Leisure Club supporting charities and voluntary organisations which provide a vital service within the community in which the staff and members live and work.”
