Just 5 days into registration for this year's 10th Anniversary Great Midlands Fun Run on Sunday, 10 June and 1000 of the available 7000 places have already been snapped up.
Postal applications are now also being accepted after publication in the Sutton Observer, Great Barr Observer, Walsall Advertiser, Lichfield Mercury and Tamworth Herald.
A further 18,000 application forms are being distributed to various local authority leisure facilities across Birmingham and other retail outlets across the area this week. Full details of where you can collect application forms are now available by clicking the news story on the home page..
Commenting on the surge in applications, Event Director Tracey Spare said: "The response has been quite astonishing. Literally as soon as we published the link to register on-line, in came the applications. This is by far the best response in the history of the event. Traditionally the on-line registration has prompted several hundred entries during the first week, so to have 1000 places snapped up in less than a week is tremendous news."
"Large teams from Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls, Plantsbrook School, Highclare School, Arthur Terry School and Town Junior along with Cancer Support Centre, John Taylor Hospice and St Giles Hospice are expected along with a team of 17 chefs from the Belfry Hotel, Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield - probably best not to plan to have lunch of Fun Run day!"
