Team Alfie - ran for the love of
Alfie
Freelance photographer Paul Johnson, and up to 30 family and
friends participated in this year's Great Midlands Fun Run to raise
money for The Friends of Alfie Johnson; a fund established to help
Paul's son Alfie who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy after being
starved of oxygen during his birth in November 2007.

Paul explained: "Alfie will require specialist care for the
remainder of his life. Through physio, occupational and speech
therapy, Alfie has been able to make some progress but he is still
unable to support his head or sit unaided.
"Alfie responds well when he goes into a sensory room and interacts
well with the fibre optic lights, bubble tubes and other sensory
equipment.
"We'll also be making a donation to the Stourbridge charity -
Chris Westwood -which provided a specialist car seat for
Alfie. In setting up the Friends of Alfie Johnson fund, our aim is
to provide Alfie with the essential equipment and services that are
required to improve the quality of his life. The equipment
he requires is extremely expensive and through fund raising
events and the generosity of others, we hope that we will be able
to help Alfie, so that he can live his life to the
full.
"The Fun Run was an ideal vehicle for my family and friends to
get together, enjoy a great day out and kick-start the fund raising
for The Friends of Alfie Fund."
Paul and his wife Vickie attended the Presentation on 29 NOvember
and were shocked to discover their family and friends together with
a little extra from the genneral fund had amassed to £5,000.
