Kababish go ‘Back to the 80’s’
One of the area’s most prestigious Asian restaurants has not only entered a team in this year’s Great Midlands Fun Run but it’s devised an ingenious promotion to raise additional funds for its four nominated charities – Acorns Children’s Hospice, St Basils, Birmingham Institute for the Deaf and Parkinson’s.
Kababish in Boldmere celebrates its 20th anniversary, while its sister restaurant in Moseley celebrates 25 years of trading this year. Proprietor Sydd Sadiq exlained: “A number of our customers and staff wanted to enter the Fun Run this year and we thought it would be great if Kababish could also run a special promotion to help raise even more money. We devised our ‘Back to the 80’s’ promotion to celebrate the opening of both restaurants during that decade.
“Throughout June [Sunday- Thursday incl, excluding Father’s Day] customers will be charged 1980’s prices, approximately 50% off current day prices and we’ll then invite our customers to donate any savings to the charity fund which will then be divided among our nominated charities and distributed by the Great Midlands Fun Run later in the year.
“We’ve received a very enthusiastic reception to the idea and customers are already donating to the fund even before the promotion starts next week!
“A number of local businesses have generously supported our drive to raise money including pcldigital, MM Electric; Lockley Stainless, Columbia Technologies, Skerritts, Nat West Bank & NEXT Tiles and I’m very confident we’ll generate a large sum for charity.”
Fun Run Event Director, Tracey Spare said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Kababish and they’ve developed a great idea to raise valuable funds for local charities. Customers at both restaurants can enjoy fabulous food, pay 1980’s prices, make a donation to charity and leave knowing they’ve enjoyed a great meal and contributed to some great causes without it costing them any more money!
“I think Kababish has devised a very clever promotion and I’m sure it’s going to be a huge success."
