Ted Cooke – sadly missed.
It is with great sadness that we have to report the recent death of Ted Cooke, founder of Cookes Furniture - main sponsor of the Great Midlands Fun Run.
Ted Cooke was a larger than life character who had time for everyone. He along with Doug Ellis was instrumental in keeping the Fun Run alive in the early 1990’s when they committed the commercial support of Cookes Furniture and Aston Villa respectively.
Ted always enjoyed Fun Run Day particularly riding in the lead vehicle.
Tracey Spare, Fun Run Event Director said: “Ted has left a wonderful legacy - Cookes Furniture - which Sutton and Birmingham can be justly proud. He has also left the business in very capable hands with his son Graham at the helm and his grand daughters Michelle, Vanessa and Jennifer involved in the day-to-day running of the business, thus continuing the family tradition and values.
“Cookes Furniture has been a wonderful partner for the Fun Run and very much behind the event’s continued success - an association Ted Cooke began and one I am delighted Graham, daughter Eleanor and Ted’s grand daughters Michelle, Vanessa and Jennifer have continued. Ted will be sadly missed.”
