Paula's friends went 'Wild' for
Fun Run
Friends of Paula Wild, a well known local physiotherapist, who died
unexpectedly at the end of last year at the age of just 50, have
come together and raised a fabulous £7,500 for Spinal
Research.

Sue Curry [far left] who co-ordinated the team entry explained: "We
assembled a team of family, friends and colleagues to run;
walk and jog the Great Midlands Fun Run in memory of our dear
friend Paula Wild.
"Paula's sudden death was such a shock to us all. The affection
held for Paula was demonstrated in the huge number of people who
attended her funeral. We chose to raise sponsor money for Spinal
Research, a cause very close to Paula's heart.
"As a very talented physiotherapist, she came into contact with
many people affected by spinal injuries and gave a great deal
of support to them and their families. Spinal Research is currently
funding a research project at Birmingham University, and the
scientists working on the project have agreed to receive any
money raised by our team in memory of Paula."
Fun Run Event Director Tracey Spare said: "Sue worked extremely
hard to gather a 70-strong team - appropriately named the Wild
Bunch - to walk, jog or run this year's Fun Run in memory of
Paula.
"While the majority of the team came from Sutton, Lichfield,
Walsall & Tamworth, some travelled from Southampton, Ely, Bury
and Reading to participate. The Wild Bunch epitomise the spirit and
purpose of the Great Midlands Fun Run; enjoying a great day and
raising money to support a cause close to their hearts."
Sue Curry added: "Other family members, friends & colleagues -
all with special memories of Paula - were around the course
cheering the rest of the team around the 8.5 mile route. Paula's
probably sat there laughing her socks off at all the
pain we put ourselves through! It was a nice way for all of
us affected by Paula's death to keep in touch and I'm
delighted at the determination people showed to take part and raise
funds for this very worthy cause.
"We're thrilled at the amount of money the team raised and would
like to thank the Fun Run for adding to the total we
collected."
